Ancillary Pricing by Passenger Booking Lifecycle

Ancillary Pricing by Passenger Booking Lifecycle

Airlines can now sell an ancillary item at different prices depending on when the customer purchases it. With this feature, we introduce a new concept of Passenger Booking Lifecycles.

Passenger Booking Lifecycles are system defined time stages during the PNR lifecycle that affect pricing. There are three time frames during the lifecycle:

  • Booking: During the booking process and X minutes after the booking is completed (X is configurable).

  • Edit: Anything after the Booking window and before the Check-in window.

  • Check-in: Anytime within Y hours of the flight departure (Y is configurable).

How to configure ancillary price overrides with Passenger Booking Lifecycle

  1. Create a new ancillary item (or open to edit an existing item).

  2. Navigate to the Pricing tab.

  3. Click Create New to add a new price override.

  4. Enter a price into the Pricing field.

  5. Select an applicable Booking Lifecycle stage.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Repeat from step 3 to 6 to add another price override.

This sample item will be sold at $30 during the Booking stage. After the Booking stage ends, the price increases to $60. When the Check-in window starts, the price will be $90 for the same item.

If customers purchase an item at a point in time when there’s an overlap between Booking Lifecycle stages (for example, they make a reservation during the check-in window), the Booking price will take precedence. After the Booking window ends, the Check-in price will be used.
