How to Set Fares for Upgrades Only

How to Set Fares for Upgrades Only

A lot of Airlines do not allow downgrades when changing flights. For example, If a passenger had a fare of 100.00, but changed his flight to another day where the fare was only 50.00, you would not want him to be able to downgrade his fare. This tutorial will show you how to set your fares to "Upgrade only". Meaning that if that passenger with the 100.00 fare, changed his dates, he could choose any fare that was at minimum 100.00 or higher.

Step-by-step guide

  1. After you've logged into ameliaRES, select Utilities → Inventory Setup
  2. Once the Inventory setup screen is open, highlight the Fare Class you wish to change and Select Edit.

  3. Once the Fare Class window click on the drop down highlighted in the example below.

  4. Change the value to "Upgrade Required" and Click Save.

  5. Repeat this for as many fare classes as you need. (Likely all the fare classes...)
