When a passenger uses loyalty points to book a flight, those points can be returned or lost based on a system setting. There are 4 options for this setting:

Option 1: Points used for reservations are lost on changes.

Option 2: Points used for reservations are returned to owner on changes.

Option 3: Points used for reservations are returned to owner on changes except segment cancellations.

  • When a segment of a passenger is canceled, points used to make the reservation are lost
  • When canceling no-show reservations upon closing a flight, points that were used to make these reservations are lost.
  • Points are returned to the owner on other changes.

Option 4: Points used for reservations are returned to owner on changes except no-show cancellations.

  • When a passenger does not show up for the flight, they are marked as no-show and points that were used to make the reservation are lost
  • Points are returned to the owner on other changes, such as removing the owner from the reservation, or canceling the reservation before the no-show time frame.
