NCO Messages

NCO Messages are one of many types of GDS Messages. This article will teach you what the purpose of an NCO message is and how to process one from the GDS message interface.

What are NCO Messages?

NCO stands for "New Continuation Information". These NCO messages are utilized by both travel agencies and other airlines to provide information about an individual passengers journey. NCO messages don't make any changes to a reservation, unless included on a message which is actively selling segments. Instead, these messages add dummy segments to a reservation which are used for informational purposes only.

Reasons why we would get an NCO message

  • As a courtesy from a travel agency, so that all segments are visible to your airline

How to process an NCO message

1.) Double Click the NCO message to open it.

2.) Delete the "NCO" from the message and move the next line up (which starts with QZ) to the upside down L. Change the Message Type to PNR (from the drop down at the top of this window) and the Status to "RCVD".

3.) Click Save

4.) Double click the message to open it.

5.) Click "Book". Another Screen will open.

6.) Click "Book" on the new screen. This will add the NCO segments to the reservation without making any changes.
