DVD Messages

DVD Messages are one of many types of GDS messages. This article will teach you what the purpose of a DVD message is and how to Manually process a DVD message from the GDS Message Interface.

What is a DVD Message?

DVD stands for Divide. When someone wishes to Divide, they mean they want to take one passenger from an existing multi-passenger reservation and move that passenger to a new PNR. There are many reasons why an agent would wish to do this, but the most important usually has to do with needing to make a segment change to one passenger, without making changes for the rest of the group. Below we have a sample DVD message.

In addition to the passenger being moved to their own reservation, ameliaRES DVD messages will also perform the following functions:

  • Ancillary Items follow the passenger.
  • eTickets follow the passenger.
  • Notes (if any) are copied to the new reservation.

Reasons why a DVD Message might not process

You can always double click on a GDS message to get the error as to why it wouldn't process. Sometimes there are special considerations for each type of message.

  • If the Agent sends a CHNT and a DVD message in the same message. A CHNT is a name change.
  • If the reservation they are trying to split has expired due to hold time or does not exist
  • If it has been turned off by intelisys, so we can fix a bug. (You would be notified, if this were to happen)
