ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite
ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite Product Description
EMD Plus Lite is a solution to support airlines that do not have a need to issue EMDs for their own purpose but do have a business need to allow GDSs to collect ticket fees, sell ancillaries, or both. These GDS-issued EMDs are sales reported to the Validating Carrier through IATA BSP or the Airlines Reporting Corporation.
- The ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite Client (host PSS provider or validating carrier) advises ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite via the Validating Airline Technical Questionnaire ("TQ") that they want to enable specific GDSs to issue, display and display history EMD-S and/or EMD-A products on their carrier. Issue, Display, and History Display transactions are the only messages turned on for the GDS. EMD messages are not turned on for the validating carrier at all.
- Based on the TQ update, ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite updates connection-database logic to allow the specified GDSs to issue EMDs in the Client's EMD database for the validating carrier.
- The Client can update their EMD RFIC/RFISC products and rules via EMD Plus Configuration Manager (DBGUI) for GDS issuance on the validating carrier.
- When ameliaRES EMD Plus Lite receives the Issue request from the GDS, the Consumed at Issuance Indicator (CA') is appended to the EMD coupons. The CAI indicator immediately updates all the coupons on the EMD to FLOWN/USED status which closes them out from further transaction updates.
- It is the responsibility of the GDS, following industry standards, to send an SSR ASVC (special remark) containing the EMD number, value, and RFIC/RFSIC to the PNR of the validating carrier. Since the validating carrier does not have a connection to their EMD database, they rely on the SSR ASVC information in the PNR to know the customer has paid for a product.
- Any refunds allowed are handled internally through airline revenue accounting or through IATA BSP website accessed by the validating carrier since all EMD Plus Lite coupons are already in final status - FLOWN/USED.
- GDSs can perform the following for EMD Plus Lite customers, depending on what the validating carrier allows in their TQ.
- EMD-S (Stand-alone)
- EMD-A (ETicket/ltinerary associated)
- 2-3 character alpha/numeric tax codes
- RFISCs that are validating carrier specific
- Issue single coupon EMD documents
- Endorsements at coupon and document level
- Coupon value or document level fare calculation ladder
- Breakdown of excess baggage charges by piece or weight
- Bulk Rate, Inclusive Tour EMDs
- Basically EMD Plus supports all IATA allowed GDS elements in an EMD issue request.
