Scanning Issue at gate
Problem
Boarding Pass Scanner Does Not Scan Consistently
Hi there,
While scanning at the gate there were issues again. Out of 11 passengers, about half scanned properly, the other half had the message “no reservation found”.
Scanner is a Zebra (Motorola) DS9208.
Solution
It is possible that the issue is related to the keystroke delay that is set for the scanner (if available). The keystroke delay is the amount of time that is paused between each character that the scanner sends into the system from the scanned bar code data. The scanner model Zebra (Motorola) DS9208 for instance has a default setting of no delay, so it rapidly sends all characters to the system, but within the user manual, there are bar codes that can be scanned by the scanner to change this setting for the keystroke delay to either 20ms or 40ms. In this case, the setting of 20ms slowed the update in the system by about 1 second as each character had a 20ms delay between them. The 40ms setting delayed the update between 3-4 seconds which was much more noticeable. The 20ms delay setting eliminated the misreads from the scanner to the application in this case. The manual for the Zebra (Motorola) DS9208 was found at URL https://content.etilize.com/user-manual/1021867440.pdf
