Flight Management - IROPS

It may be necessary to divert flights at times (for operational reasons), and move passengers to an alternate flight.

The following contains the steps required to accomplish this using the Automate Pax Reprotection (IROPS) feature.

Enable Feature:

User must have the "Flight Watch - IROPS" permission.

Insert a leg:

  • Open the Flight Watch screen (or Flight+/Tail Scheduling/Dispatch Management).

  • Select a flight and click IROPS.

  • Edit the time for each leg to reflect the new departure and arrival times.

  • Select a leg to edit: Assuming the original routing is A-B-C-D and you want to add Q (to make it A-B-Q-C-D), select B-C and change it to B-Q.

  • There is now a gap in the routing, so select the leg before or after it, and click the Add button (it will be enabled). Most of the fields will be pre-populated to fill the gap. Review the information, change if needed, and click Save.

  • The IROPS Bulk Move screen will appear for each affected segment, and will close automatically once all passengers on a segment are moved.

    • This screen will have the left side disabled; on the right side, flights for the same date as the original flight will be loaded automatically - you can change the date if needed. (The original flight will be included in the list in case you want to keep passengers on the same flight.)

    • Only passengers who need to be handled manually will be included on the PAX list. Other passengers will be reprotected automatically.

Insert a turn-back leg:

  • Open the Flight Watch screen (or Flight+/Tail Scheduling/Dispatch Management).

  • Select a flight and click IROPS.

  • Edit the time for each leg to reflect the new departure and arrival times.

  • Select a leg to edit: Assuming the original routing is A-B-C-D and you want to add B-B (to make A-B-B-C-D), select B-C and change it to B-B.

  • There is now a gap in the routing between B and D, so select the leg before or after it, and click the Add button (it will be enabled). Most of the fields will be pre-populated to fill the gap. Review the information, change if needed, and click Save.

  • The IROPS Bulk Move screen will appear for each affected segment and will close automatically once all passengers on a segment are moved.

    • This screen will have the left side disabled; on the right side, flights for the same date as the original flight will be loaded automatically - you can change the date if needed. (The original flight will be included in the list in case you want to keep passengers on the same flight.)

    • On the right side of the screen, you’ll see 2 options: one with the turn-back leg and one without it. Make sure you select the one with the turn-back leg to move passengers to.

Example: Flight PB666's original routing is YMH-YHG - a turn-back leg was added to make it YMH-YMH-YHG. You’ll find these 2 options on the right side of the screen (MOVE TO, options 2 and 5).

    • Only passengers who need to be handled manually will be included on the PAX list. Other passengers will be reprotected automatically.

Remove a leg:

  • Open the Flight Watch screen (or Flight+/Tail Scheduling/Dispatch Management).

  • Select a flight and click IROPS.

  • Select a leg to edit: Assuming the original routing is A-B-C-D-E and you want to remove C (to make it A-B-D-E), delete C-D, then select B-C and change it to B-D.

    • Only passengers who need to be handled manually will be included on the PAX list. Other passengers will be reprotected automatically.

Reversed Routing:

  • Open the Flight Watch screen (or Flight+/Tail Scheduling/Dispatch Management).

  • Select a flight and click IROPS.

  • Select a leg to edit: Assuming the original routing is A-B-C-D and you want to travel A-D-C-B, change the legs' destination airports accordingly.

    • Only passengers who need to be handled manually will be included on the PAX list. Other passengers will be reprotected automatically.

IMPORTANT

  • Wait at least 5 minutes after an IROPS edit before you make another IROPS edit to the same flight. (If you start another edit too soon, it will cause errors).

  • After you edit in IROPS screen and click Save, wait a few second for the system to load the IROPS bulk move screens (if any).

  • When passengers are moved, their checked baggage will also be moved to the new flight.

  • It is NOT recommended to edit flight routing and flight watch information at the same time. The best practice is to only edit flight routing in IROPS mode, then open the flight in Flight Watch and change that information.

  • When a flight routing is changed in IROPS mode, passengers MUST be moved to other flights to keep the original origin and destination on their itinerary. The IROPS button CANNOT be used in the case of a diverted flight where passenger itineraries are expected to reflect the diverted routing.
