Hot Keys in ameliaRES - Reservations

This article will show the user the various Hot Keys that are enabled in the reservations flow in ameliaRES

Step-by-step guide

The ameliaRES system has been programmed with many Hot Keys (or shortcuts) that can be used to facilitate the making of a reservation. By using them, the user may increase the speed with which a reservation is completed. The idea is to keep the hands on the keyboard and limit the use of the mouse.

  1. CTRL-R will open up the reservations window.  This function eliminates the user from going to Operation → Reservations

  1. CTRL-6 - This will open up the search selection box by fare
  2. CTRL-7 - This will open up the search selection box by schedule
  3. CTRL-B - This will open up the search selection box for standby travel
  4. CTRL-G - This will open up the search selection box for group travel
  5. CTRL-9 - This will open up the search selection box for a fares search
  6. CTRL-A - This will open up the search selection box for advanced passengers / file search
  7. CTRL-5 - This will action the print function 
  8. CTRL-P - This will open up the search selection box for Passenger lists by day and by flight
  9. CTRL-C - This will close the Reservation Selection window
  10. CTRL-S - This will begin the search when data has been entered in the top search criteria


Using the CTRL-7 Hot Key, open the search criteria (By Schedule).

  1. CTRL-P - This will open up the User Profile screen. Here, you can select the profile of the customer. This will cause all of the data contained in the User Profile to auto-populate when then reservation is completed.
  2. Date - Using the TAB key on this screen will move you for section to section.  In the Date window, simply enter 1512 for December 15, 2016. TAB to the next field and the date will populate.
  3. From - Start to type the City Code required and it will auto populate. TAB off to the next box.
  4. To - Again, start to type the City Code require and it will auto populate. TAB off to the next box.
  5. Return Trip - Hit the space bar and the Select box will populate with a check mark and the Date will be selectable. Use the format above to populate. TAB off to the next box.
    1. Agency and company can be selected here by typing the agency and company required. TAB off to select.
  6. CTRL-7 - When Agency and Company are selected OR if they are suitable after entering From/To/Date(s), use the CTRL-7 hot key to take you to the Flight Selection screen.

  1. Flight Options (outbound) - This quadrant is the active quadrant when the screen opens. The user can use the UP and Down arrows to navigate to select the flight needed.
  2. Flight Options (inbound) - Using the TAB key, the user can move to this quadrant and use the Up and Down arrows to navigate to select the flight needed.
  3. CTRL-3 - Once the flights have been selected, this hotkey will take you to the FARES SELECTION screen
  4. CTRL-4 - If the airline accepts waitlist on full flights, this hotkey will be available to use
  5. CTRL-5 - This hotkey will give you an advanced flight selection window
  6. CTRL-C - This will cancel the window and take the user back to the previous window

  

  1. CTRL-A - The system defaults to the Adults field. Enter the number of Adults needed for this reservation.
    1. CTRL-C will move the user to the Children field. Enter the number of Children if needed.
  2. CTRL1 or FLIGHTS - This window will display the flight selected on the previous Flight Options screen
  3. CTRL-2 - This window displays all of the fares available for the selected flights. The user can use the UP and DOWN arrows to select the fare required.
    1. The user can toggle back and forth between flights and fares using the two hot keys until the desired fares are acceptable for the customer
  4. Show Fares - will allow the user to select the type of fares needed to be displayed
  5. CTRL-O - (The letter O, not Zero) If a promo code needs to be entered
  6. CTRL-P - Will apply the Promo Code entered
  7. CTRL-R - This hot key will allow the user to display the fare rules for the fare that has been selected
  8. CTRL-S - This hot key will apply the fares to the flights selected
  9. CTRL-D - The user can display the fare details for the customer before the booking is to be completed
  10. CTRL-X - The user can cancel and exit out of this screen
  11. CTRL-B - This hot key will book the flights and fares selected
  12. Show All Fares - If this is enabled for the airline - by using the tab key and hitting the space bar, all sold out fares will become available for selection.

As an example, once the flight has been selected on the previous screen, the user could complete the reservation in as little as 2 or 3 key strokes. If the flight and fare that automatically come up and default to, the user can simply go CTRL-S and then CTRL-B and the reservation will be selected and booked. The next screen is the Passenger Information Screen.

  1. CTRL-2 - Change an already existing name or activate the PROFILE SEARCH window
  2. CTRL-A - Add a new passenger or Increase the booking
  3. CTRL-R - Cancel or remove a passenger from the reservation
  4. CTRL-N - Divide / split the file
  5. CTRL-I - Add an Infant
  6. CTRL-6 - Add a company to the file
  7. CTRL-3 - Search for the information entered into the PROFILE SEARCH
  8. CTRL-4 - Enter new passenger information (activates the right side of the window)
  9. CTRL-5 - Edit existing passenger information
  10. CTRL-S - Save the all of the information entered
  11. CTRL-X - Cancel or exit this screen
  12. Passenger Information - The right side of this window - The user can use a mouse to select the data to be entered or use the TAB key.

  1. CTRL-2 - Change Passenger information (This function is active when the passenger information area is active / highlighted.)
    1. CTRL-2 - Change Segment (This function is active when the segment information area is active / highlighted.)
    2. CTRL-2 - Change Contact (This function is active when the segment information area is active / highlighted.)
  2. CTRL-3 - This will open the Payment window
  3. CTRL-4 - Opens the Itinerary send window
  4. CTRL-5 - The user can access the charges window for all passengers
  5. CTRL-6 - The user can open the ticket entry window for a manually issued ticket
  6. CTRL-7 - This will pull up the cancel reservations window and will allow the user to cancel the reservation
  7. CTRL-H - The user can put the the file on hold or amend the hold time
  8. CTRL-E - Opens the Edit Res window
  9. CTRL-A - Will let the user add an agency to the file
  10. CTRL-O - Will let the user add a company to the file
  11. CTRL-G - This window will let the user add a GDS locator if needed
  12. RES AUDIT - No hot key
  13. CTRL-S - This hot key will open up the seat chart and will open the seat chart for all passengers on the file
  14. CTRL-P - Opens the Ancillary / Shop window to select options here
  15. CTRL-9 - Opens the RES SEARCH window
  16. CTRL-C - Closes the window
  17. CTRL-M - When the airline uses the GDS, this hot key will open up the GDS messages window 
  18. CTRL-8 - If the airline uses the history recording when the file closes, this is where the user can check the history.
  19. CTRL-T - If the airline uses Electronic Ticketing, this hot key will open up the ET window.

The user can use the TAB key to navigate this screen quite easily.

  1. CTRL-A - Once the user has selected the credit card method, activating this hot key will open up the Authorization window (next figure)
  2. CTRL-S - The user can save the selections entered
  3. CTRL-X - Cancels or exits out of this screen

  1. CTRL-A - Once all of the pertinent credit card data has been entered, the user can use this hot key to activate the authorisation process
  2. ESC - Press the escape key will clear the data entered and allows the user to start again
  3. CTRL-C - Once the authorization number has been received, this hot key will close the screen and takes the user back to the Payments screen for completion

 

  1. CTRL-2 - The user can Add a charge
  2. CTRL-3 - The user can Edit a charge (change the amount or zero it out)
  3. CTRL-6 - Opens the Payment window
  4. CTRL-7 - Allows the user to refund a payment (if he/she has the proper permissions based on the airline's policies)
  5. CTRL-8 - This will print the payment transaction(s)
  6. CTRL-9 - The user can Edit the name of the Payer (if he/she has the proper permissions based on the airline's policies)
  7. CTRL-O - Edit a PO (purchase order) if being used
  8. CTRL-T - This will allow the user to transfer a credit (if he/she has the proper permissions based on the airline's policies)

This format can be used on screens throughout ameliaRES, where either the CTRL key or the ALT key will control the hot keys.
