With 20.01, the implementation of a magnetic card reader has been added to the payment form within ameliaRES when adding a payment. This article will review the device, and changes, and how to utilize the magnetic card reader within the application.
MSR90-USB Card Reader
The MRS90-USB magnetic card read acts as a keyboard. When a card is swiped, it interprets the magnetic strips data, and outputs it in a way that is readable / usable.
Using the Card Reader
When processing / adding a payment to a reservation, you will start the payment process by accessing a reservation and pressing on the payment button.
Select the settings you require, the payment type, and the receipt number and press authorize.
The new form opens, allowing the user to enter the credit card details.
From this screen you must click on the card number field. Once the card number field is active, you can swipe the card. You'll notice that the Card number, cardholders name, and expiration dates have been filled in appropriate.
Additional fields such as CVV, address, and other information will need to be manually filled in as required as this data is not stored on the card.
